Continuing studies

It is known that after finished a career, life gets even more complicated. It´s like : well, what should we do know? Some people find work inmediatly to apply what they learn from their studies and earn money. Other people are dedicated to resting for a while and relaxing from the stressful years they had.
However, there are others who continue to study and specialize through masters and doctorates to develop further in the field of study.
This sound like a good idea, and is something that I think that I could put into practice after finished the career of architecture. However, there are some complications with that, situations and requeriments of which I am increasingly aware. First, the issue of money: we all know that you need money to study, either for pay the program of study or to cost things neccesary for can study (such as the residence for some who lives far away or even in another city or country, the food, the books, the materials, among others).
Other thing important is something relationated with the possibilities of take a work. Various people, among them career companions and even teachers, I have been told that finding work with advances studies (like a magister or doctoral degree) it is more complicated that just having a career on your curriculum. Something relationated with the cost of employer that ascends when you have more studies.

Post graduate studies

If there is anything i have been interested in since I was a child is art, specifically the drawing to pencil carbon  or graphite pencil. Drawing with this technique is really relaxing and the result is beautiful.
During this time (since that I came in to university) I didn´t do much of this because my free time It´s not much, also I haven´t had much motivation or desire to do so. However, I don´t want to forget this hobby and I would like to take a course in the future focusing only on that. In fact, when I was in school I considered study art in the university, but this covers many other topics that don´t interest me as much, such as the painting or the utilization of other techniques; so I decide for architecture thinking that I could dedicate myself to charcoal drawing and study at the same time. Sadly, this has not happened.
My future plans include move on to other country (for the moment), so I would like to study something relationated with the drawing there after my graduation of my current career.
I mentioned before that I don´t have much free time now to dedicate for this, this means that I would like to dedicate much time, so a part-time course sounds good. Maybe study in a studio or other, but presencially.

My future job

When I think in the future, I imagine various scenarios. About my life, my health, my family and, of course, about my future job. When I was child, I wanted to become an veterinary, some time later I wanted to be a lawyer, then a psychologist. Finally, I decided to be an architect, which is what I am studying right now. I really like the art of design spaces for the people and see different places and constructions.
In spite of studying what I like, I still don´t know for sure in which specialization area I want to dedicate myself to working. However, I know in what situation I want to work in and what work environment I hope to find. I imagine work in a office with other people making and working in different things. Having my own desk would be great. Despite this, I wouldn´t like to work only behind closed doors or just dedicate myself to my area of study. I hope whatever I´m working on, I can travel to different countries and work with different people. It would be interesting to change the work environment on a regular basis.
The salary it´s a little more complicated. Sometimes I imagine to have a lot of money, but other times I think  it would be nice to have what it takes to live right and happy.

Architecture of the future

The world of today it´s different to the yesterday, or maybe we only see other things we ignored in the past. An example is that when we talk about the current development of the architecture, we talk about the present world. The architecture has gone changing with the time; not just in its form (the gothic and contemporaneous is an example of contrast) or in its way of contruction, but too in the thinking of the essence of its creation.

So, its aceptable think that to the future will be different of today, and we can see the first approaches of that in the architecture and its answer to the actual world and what´s happening in the.

The news about the contamination, the climated change and the destruction of the environment cover whole the space in social media and mass media. Its obvious the way in wich the quality of life has been deteriorating.  Against this, the way of contruction news buildings, houses or modify aspect of cities it has to change in benefit of the world and the people who inhabit it.

The sustaintable architecture it´s a good way of make that. This takes  into account today´s  world and makes an architecture that uses materials and a way of contruction to the benefit of the environment. It´s  then expected that in the future all the architecture will respond in the same way.

The best winter holidays

Since I was little the snow caught my attention, and it was my desire to know it. When I was 10-11 years (for the 2010-2011), finally my wish came true. With my father, mother and my little brother, we went to enjoy the snow for a whole day on winter holidays.
The place chosen was the "Osorno volcano", near the town of Puerto Varas, in "Region de los Lagos", Chile. During this time we lived near of the city, so we were made easy and inexpensive fo us to go.

Although it was only one day and it was a little difficult moment to go up in the car to the volcano, I did a lot of activities. I played with the snow, I threw myself from a slope with a piece of plastic board, we ate, among others.
This is my favorite holiday because is a beautiful memory that I have with my family. We didn´t have many vacations together for the holidays days, and this was the most significant one for me because it was something I wanted from a young age and could share with my family.

The current labour field

Globalization is a phenomenon with wich we live day by day, and is an essential part of the development of the world and wich has consequences in various fields. One of them is the development of workind field.
The internationalitation of markets has been inflenced by globalization, especially with the development of the internet and, in consequence, of communication. This has done that the growth of the differents jobs is greater thanks to news opportunities that the phenomenon creates.
However, even with the wide development of the labour field and the different areas of work that are created year after year, is difficult (this is relative) find a job in the field you specialize in. This is because the growth of the labour field it means  more people sre employed in it.
Sometimes I imagine after graduation having difficulty finding a job, but in others scenarios I find immediately -It´s good to be optimistic sometimes-.
Because of this, I think that worry about that right now is not much use. The world change every moment, and I don´t know what kind of world there will be in the future when I have to work in my own labour field.

A country I would like to visit

The country that I would to go is Italia, in Europa. The reason is because I really like the architecture of the country and the differents places that can be visit.
The capital of Italia is Roma, one of the most important cities of the western culture and the center of the catholic

religion. Italia has a many places to enjoy like the Roman coliseum in Roma,Tower of Pisa in Pisa, Capri Island near of Napoles, among others. One a curious thing about this country is that it has 55 heritage of humanity, the most in the world.
I would like go like a tourist, travel the streets and enjoy the architecture of the country. Also, I would do tours in many cities and take a lot of pictures.
Italia is very beautiful, and I really would like to study or work here. However, It would just for a couple of months or for a year. It wouldn't live there. The reason of that is because I don´t speak the idiom, and the culture it´s different, so for me It would be difficult adapt.

Web quest: Environmental issues

Part. 1
What's the average carbon footprint of a person?
- In Chile, the average per capita carbon footprint is 5.0 tons of CO2 each year. In my case, I emit about 4.38 tons.

Part. 2: Take these recycling quizzes
1. Hand washing dishes can use up to 50% more of water than using an efficient dishwasher.
2. Only about 10% of global energy comes from renewables.
3. True or false? Appliances that are turned off don´t use any electricity.
-That's false, because the appliances continue to use energy when they´re turned off.

4. Can you make paper out of hemp?
-Yes, we did. This material is very clean and ecological, which makes it perfect for creating paper.

Part. 3: The best 3 tips
1. Reuse the bags when you shop. Even, have a lifetime bag (of gender or other material). This is something that was implemented in our country recently and it´s amazing how little we really needed the plastic bags from the supermarket and others shops.
2. Packing and tying food that can cause a bad smell.
3. Do not use disposable products when you can use the products that last much longer and spend less money.

Expert that I admire

The expert that I admire is "Tadao Ando", an japanese architect. He was born in Osaka in 2941 and he learned architecture in a self thaught way. When he was young he was an amateur boxer and then he dedicated himself to architecture learning during his travels in Africa, Europe and the United States. In 1970 he began with his first works with small constructions that later became larger. His work is closely related to japanese culture, history and architecture.

In his constructions, use a simple and minimalist geometry. Also, he use the light like an important element in his constructions. An example of this is the famous "Church of the light", wich a natural light enter to the enclosure in a controlled way and becomes the protagonist (we can see in the photo). Other important works are the "Koshino house", "Azuma house", amog others.

I like this architect because I like the manner of he use the light and the harmony in his work, in a spiritual way that's nice for me to see. I also like cleanliness in his works and the way in wich nature occupies inside his constructions to insolate them from the cities.

Favorite subject

My favorite subject has been one of this first semester of this second year in the univeristy, this is "urban sustainability" teaches by the teacher Constantino Mawromatis.

I like this subject so much because addresses a topic that catches my attention, like is the urbanisim, the sustainability , among others. Other reason is because the activities are funny and insteresting to do. For example,  we have to do activities that involves the photography and the edition, the investigation about a topic or the oral presentations.
As I mentioned before, it deals with the topic of the sustainability, and I can say that is the theme most significant that I learned until now. The way in that the city is distributed and how this affects in different forms to the planet and the way of life of the inhabitants is something that I have been valoring in this subject.

I think that this subject is very important to the carrer of architecture, because the sustainability has become more important these ages with the change climate and the search of a better way of life whitout damaging the environment.

A photography you like

I took this photography one year ago in a popular neighbourhood of Santiago,  known for its architecture and its commercial and artistic character . The photo shows a street of the neighbourhood near of the cultural center "Gabriela Mistral", entering to lastarria . It was taken late, around at 7 o'clock after the university because i had need to gone to the neighbourhood to make drawings for a workshop.

I like this photography because it remember me my first days of the university, and above all, because it was one of the first times I was going to lastarria and I was still amazed at how beautiful the place is.

It was the first time that i went at the evening and when I was arriving I was surprised by the color of the sky, which is why I took the picture. the pink and orange colors mixed with the place really pleased me.

I also like this photo because I can remember the athmosphere of the place and the people of this. The photo bring me a good memories.

Environment and my career

The climate change is a problem present in the entire world and that affect to every people. There are more and more climate drastic changes in different countrys and the natural resources has been reduce. This added to the contamination and the extintion of diverse species being, they have created an unfortunate scenario.

In my career, architecture, this theme affect in different ways. For one side, the contruction of building create CO2, a gas very harmful for the enviroment, and at the same time its operation continues to emit the same gas.

For this, in Santiago we can see changes for reduce this problem like a manner of conscientitation. For example, and in a cultural way, the people use the bike more and more. Also, have been instaled reciclying points in differents parts of the city.
In the architecture, norms have been created to protect the ecosystem and sustainable parks, squares and plans have been created

For the future, the climate change  will influence in my professional life like an architect. Maybe we will use other materials of contructions, like wood or other sustentables. However, they not affect my professional goals, because this included all of us and I am ready to join me.

My favorite piece of technology

The cellphone is my favorite piece of technology. My mom and dad give me my first cellphone when I was 11 years old. It was a phone with keys and a small screen. I lost it after six months.

My last phone gave it to me my mom 2 years ago to my birthday. Is an expensive mobile, so I take care so much.

It's embarrassing to admit, but I use it for all things. Listening to music, read a books (when I don't have the physical book in my library), like a GPS, "chat" with my family and friends, search information in internet and even to do works for the university. I use it all days several moments in the day.

I really like this artifact, it made my life easier. Is small and compact, so is it comfortable to use and use in my pocket every moment and in all places.

When I think in my life without my phone, I imagine a life with several artifacts to do my things in the day. A radio to listen to music, have a TV to watch movies, a clock to see the hour, among others, just like past times.

The career

When I was a child, I had many dream jobs. For example, when I was 6 years old, I wanted to be police, then I wanted to be veterinian, a lawyer, among others.

In my last year of school, I was not completely determined about my definitive career. I was between design, linguistic and architecture. What made me decide in the end for architecture was the fascination that I was with some places and building in the cities where I lived.

Now, I´m happy with that decition.

The university for me has been a completely different experience that has make me grow.

I have had good and bad days, good experiences and some that I wish to forget.

The best of all have been the friends that I have now thanks to the university, they are really nice.

About the job I want to have in the future, I´m not sure. I only know that I want to do what makes me happy with myself.
